ST. JOHN’S UNIVERSITY
Writing Center - St. Augustine Hall

Renovation of approx 6,000 square feet of existing university space. This project provided the school with an expansion of services, including reception areas, conference rooms, reading spaces, library space, resource sections, administrative areas and pantry.

The timely completion of this project was a note-worthy achievement, the schedule was a fast tracked from the inception. Construction started on June 6, 2006 and was completed and occupied by mid-August of the same year.

The Writing Center is located on the ground floor within St. Augustine Hall at the heart of St. John’s main campus in Queens, New York. The reading rooms and conference areas were carefully provided with high-end finishes; an excellent example of which is the Center’s unique ceiling construction. These “finishing touches” are intended to offer a polished, more contemporary feel to the space.

In the recent months since its opening, the center has rapidly become a hub of activity; the well-designed writing and reading rooms offering a quiet refuge for reading and studying for both the University’s students and its faculty alike. The Writing Center has become a noticeably successful campus asset. This has lately become apparent with its usage as an informal showcase for board members and school directors who prefer its airy spaces and relaxed confines for their meetings and conferences.
