ST JOHN’S UNIVERSITY
Sun Yat Sen -  Library, Faculty Dining & Lounge

The Sun Yat Sen Center was renovated to include the Asian Studies Library and Faculty Dining Facility, and included a new pantry area, electrical power supply, HVAC equipment for the existing perimeter office space, library and lounge.  The Sun Yat Sen Center also houses an art gallery which required it’s HVAC system to be upgraded in advance of the installation of an art exhibition from the Vatican.  The Asian Studies Library is a tranquil setting in a beautiful Chinese pagoda-style building.  Great care was taken to salvage and relocate wall-mounted, hand-made Chinese wood carvings which are displayed in the library entry-area and within the book stack areas.  The library collections for Asian Studies are stored in a high-density shelving system as well as within a series of standard library book stacks.

The Faculty Dining Facility and Lounge is a magnificently appointed room whose centerpiece is a original full-size restored fireplace whose stonework was donated by one of St. John’s University’s patrons.  The lounge is utilized by the President of the University and members of the Board of Directors for various dinners and fund-raising events.  The Sun Yat Sen Center has become a showplace for the university due in large part to the stunning visual impact of both the interior and exterior finishes.
