The Sun Yat Sen Center was renovated to include the Asian Studies Library and Faculty Dining Facility, and included a new pantry area, electrical power supply, HVAC equipment for the existing perimeter office space, library and lounge. The Sun Yat Sen Center also houses an art gallery which required it’s HVAC system to be upgraded in advance of the installation of an art exhibition from the Vatican. The Asian Studies Library is a tranquil setting in a beautiful Chinese pagoda-style building. Great care was taken to salvage and relocate wall-mounted, hand-made Chinese wood carvings which are displayed in the library entry-area and within the book stack areas. The library collections for Asian Studies are stored in a high-density shelving system as well as within a series of standard library book stacks. |
