THE MOUNT SINAI MEDICAL CENTER
Minimally Invasive Surgery Center

The project provided an upgrade of existing operating rooms to create a new Minimally Invasive Surgical Center. The center not only provides the hospital with needed surgical space, but was fitted out with an extensive AV package, enabling what is called a “telemedicine program” . This program allows surgical procedures to be broadcast to classrooms all around the city. This joint effort between the Mount Sinai Medical Center and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine gives real-time learning experiences for hundreds of students at a time, many more than could fit in the viewing section of a typical surgical facility. Construction concerns included performing all construction tasks in an area that was directly adjacent to operating rooms that remained fully staffed and functional throughout the duration of construction.
