MEMORIAL SLOAN-KETTERING CANCER CENTER
Haupt Building - Urgent Care Center

The Urgent Care Center was built to provide MSKCC with an out-patient facility to treat cancer clientele. This facility is unique; it is able to provide immediate on-site medical services should an unexpected medical emergency or complication arise during routine treatment procedures. The facility is multi-faceted, providing a wide array of services within one unit. Among the specialty medical environments included in the new facility are the following:

  • Thirteen Patient Cubicles for Infusion Therapy
  • Two Isolation Rooms
  • Four Examination Rooms; one with specialized surgical lighting
  • Nurse’s Station with Hill-Rom Nurse Call System
  • Transfusion Room
  • Triage Areas
  • Social Services Offices
  • Patient Financial Services Offices
  • Patient & Family Waiting Areas with Reception Desk
  • Medical Preparation Areas
  • Filing & Medical Storage Spaces
  • Staff Lounge
Construction highlights include the custom-made glass found throughout the facility, during the manufacture of which an entirely new laminating process was developed specifically for this type of glass paneling. Custom-made woodwork finishes surround the Nurse’s Station and appear throughout the facility in the matching wall panels. The sconces that line the hallways are also custom-made for installation in this facility.
