The Kaufman lab employs a range of spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. Architect Mitchell/Giurgola worked with Dr. Kaufman to provide student desk and meeting space, wet laboratory with benches, fume hood & tissue culture hood, and two dry laboratories containing air tables for optical equipment. Suspended above are overhead service carriers containing power, data receptacles, and other services. The labs have their own dedicated air-handling units in order to maintain precise temperature & humidity required for optimal performance of the instruments.
